Intended audience
New and existing University staff who require a basic understanding of Fringe Benefits Tax.
Workshop description
To ensure compliance with the Fringe Benefits Tax legislation, it is important that staff at the University understand how to identify, document and report fringe benefits. This workshop is designed to assist staff to understand what a fringe benefit is, how and when they are provided to staff, and what information Financial Services (Tax Development) need to ensure accurate reporting to the Australian Taxation Office.
Intended outcomes
After completing this workshop, you should be able to:
  • identify a variety of fringe benefits
  • self-assess FBT liability for a range of benefits
  • understand and complete declarations and other required documentation
  • communicate more effectively with staff surrounding FBT issues
  • understand the quarterly and annual reporting obligations of business units
